What I’m Doing Now
🗓️ updated: Oct 10, 2025
If you don't know what a now page is, check out this explanation.
My cat broke her hip
It's late at night and I'm sitting here with Corina, who just had surgery this morning for a Femoral Head Osteotomy (FHO). She has Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease, which I found out about exactly a week ago. Seeing her hurt was genuinely scary.
She's resting now, still pretty loopy from the anesthesia. The vet said it'll be three months before she's moving normally, and a full year to completely heal. So I'm deep in cat mom mode, making sure my lil baby has everything she needs.
One semester left until I graduate
I'm finishing my MS in Analytics from Georgia Tech this year. When I started OMSA in 2022, taking 1-2 classes at a time, I really didn't know if I'd make it to this point. There were some rough nights. But I kept going and now I can actually see the finish line, which feels surreal.
This semester I'm taking Data and Visual Analytics with Polo Chau, learning how to visualize data at scale and combine computation with design to tell better stories. I'm also taking Data Analysis for Continuous Improvement, where I'll earn my Green Belt in Lean Six Sigma.
Reimagining how people explore art
For my DVA course, I'm working with other grad students to build a visual similarity analysis using CLIP for the Metropolitan Museum's collection. The idea is to replace the traditional catalog structure with something more intuitive - where you can explore artwork through visual connections instead of rigid categories. We're trying to make it feel natural for anyone, not just people who already know a lot about art.
Going to my first INFORMS conference
October 25-29 I'll be at the INFORMS Annual Meeting here in Atlanta, and I'm genuinely excited about it. I've never been to a conference like this before - one specifically for people working in operations research, analytics, and data science.
I'm signed up for their data science workshop, but honestly I'm most looking forward to just being in a space with people who geek out over optimization problems and statistical models. I want to hear what people are actually working on, what problems they're solving, and how they think about the field. Plus, it's a good chance to figure out where I might fit in this world after I graduate.
Looking for mentors
I'm actively searching for mentors, especially as I start thinking about moving into leadership and strategy roles. I've been meeting some incredible people lately, which has been encouraging, but I'm realizing how much I don't know about navigating this transition.
I'm specifically looking for people who understand the intersection of technical work and strategic thinking - folks who've made the jump from being in the data to helping shape how organizations use data to make decisions. I want to learn how to think bigger picture without losing the analytical rigor that got me here. If you know someone (or if you're reading this and thinking "hey, that's me"), I'd love to connect.
Implementing Industry 4.0 at work
I'm a Senior Data Analyst at Prince Service & Manufacturing, and right now we're in the middle of implementing Industry 4.0 and IIoT infrastructure from the ground up. We're talking sensors, real-time data collection, automated quality control - the whole transformation of how a manufacturing operation works.
It's challenging because we're not just adding technology to existing processes. We're fundamentally rethinking how data flows through the organization, how decisions get made on the floor, and how we can actually use all this information to improve operations. There's a lot of "figure it out as we go" energy, which honestly makes it more interesting. I get to solve problems that don't have neat textbook answers, and I'm learning a ton about what it actually takes to bring these systems to life in a real production environment.
